August 2021 Update: One Church Transformation

The new Chapel is a beautiful, multi-use space that will seat up to 300 people. The wood walls are now complete, and our technology contractor is putting the finishing touches on our new audio-visual system. Once technology installation is finished, the carpet will be installed, and the wood stage completed. If all stays on schedule, we anticipate the Chapel to be complete by Labor Day. The new child care area will be a bright, happy, safe space for our littlest friends. Restrooms and tiling are nearly complete and new cubbies are being installed. Glass for the Toddler and Infant rooms will be installed in September and we’re hoping to have the folding partition installed by the end of September that will separate the child care and CDLC preschool areas.

The new Mission Outpost space is really taking shape. Mission Outpost is a critical ministry of Prince of Peace, providing hope and wholeness to more than 150 families per week. Over 800,000 pounds of food is distributed per year, along with clothing, toiletries, linens, and furniture.

Inside the original triangle building, offices are painted, and the casework and counter tops are nearly complete. We’ve had a hiccup with receiving the new lights for Mission Outpost, but once those are in place, we can get the new flooring installed.

The concrete floor of the warehouse addition has been poured and now our mechanical and electrical contractors can start their rough ins for that new space. Have you tried to purchase a refrigerator lately and were shocked by the delivery lead time? Our new warehouse space will have a substantially larger walk-in cooler and freezer. These were ordered well in advance but are currently not scheduled for delivery until December 2. The rest of Mission Outpost will be substantially complete in early to mid-November. We’re working on getting the new cooler and freezer as soon as we can, but in the meantime everything else that needs to be done will be completed. Watch for a late November to early December opening of our brand-new Mission Outpost space if all stays on schedule.
