Looking Ahead

StuMin November 28 Theme: Different
All of us deal with some type of stress in our lives on a day to day basis, stress that can keep us from living the type of life that God wants for us. Thankfully, God has given us tools that we can use to get around that wall of stress. Next week we will finish our exploration of spiritual practices as means of changing our experience of stress.

See our Registration Page for all open registrations.

If you have questions about registration, contact Dawn Ridgway by email or at 952-898-9337.

StuMin Weekly Schedule

September through April | Wednesdays unless otherwise noted

StuMin Praise Band | 5:30 - 6:15 pm

Students in grades 6-12 are welcome to find a place in our StuMin Band. Rehearsal will take place in the Sanctuary in the Worship Center. Due to a high number of students, we use a rotation system to ensure that all students can contribute.

Small Groups | 6:15 - 7:00 pm (early) or 8:00 - 8:45 pm (late)

All students are encouraged to participate in age-level small groups. There are two sessions, “early” and “late,” meeting in various spaces in the Christian Life Center. Small group content is written differently for high school and middle school groups.

Freestyle | 6:15 - 7:15 pm

Freestyle is available for all students and meets in the Media Room of the Christian Life Center. There are snacks, games, and spaces for students to connect. This is also a great volunteer opportunity for parents.

StuMin Worship | 7:15 - 8:00 pm

Students are invited to join us for amazing music, large group games, sacraments, and a relevant message in the Family Room of the Christian Life Center. This is not a passive experience! There are many ways to be involved as ushers, greeters, communion servers, game and announcement hosts, guest speakers, singers, dancers, and much more.

Parenting Tools | 7:15 - 8:00 pm

This year’s theme is “A People Called Parent.” Parents will explore the different ways children call us into being a parent. A variety of people will cover a range of challenges and issues that parents face.

Parenting Tools meets in the chapel.

Sunday StuMin | 11:00 am - noon

Sunday StuMin is a ministry for middle school students run by high school students that meets on select Sundays throughout the year at 11:00 am in Room 200 of the Christian Life Center. Middle schools students can expect games, music, and short devotional. High school students will learn leadership skills as they plan and lead this important ministry. No registration is required. Contact Jason Kramme for more information.

Affirmation of Baptism | Sundays 9:45 am

In Affirmation of Baptism students commit to taking the lead in their own life of discipleship. We approach each of the participants as if they are characters in a subplot of God’s great story.

Then, applying the principles of what makes a truly great story, help them clarify and bring meaning to the life they commit to during Affirmation of Baptism. Along the way we’ll learn about who God is, who we are, the story we’re a part of, and the life we’ve been called to.

Two 10-week sessions are offered on Sunday mornings each year (one in the fall and one in the spring). Each session culminates in a celebration with the entire Prince of Peace community during weekend worship.

What You Need to Know This Week

Don’t forget to fill out your attendance sheet! Also, if you have a note for Jason or Dawn this sheet can be a good place to write it.

This Week's Note From StuMin Staff

Please start thinking about these December events

December 5th
Serve Night
Leaders need to find a community service opportunity for their group. Once you’ve identified a service opportunity please notify Dawn.

December 19
Sixth Grade Get-Together
The first of our grade level get-together is for our sixth grade students.

  • What: These are 45 minute leader-led mixers for students in a particular grade replacing large group time.
  • When: Each grade will have two of these events a year.
  • Where: These will take place at Prince of Peace unless other arrangements are made by leaders.
  • How it Works: Connect with the leaders from your grade-level to plan an event for the number of students in your grade.
  • Goal: We want kids to know other kids in their grade better and to establish a group identity

All materials can be purchased by staff. Simply provide staff with a list with enough time before the event to purchase. We would like these events to cost $50 or less.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • StuMin Planning: Students and adults leaders are invited to gather every Tuesday from 3:00-4:00 pm in Jason’s office to plan weekly ministry, trips, and events. This is a great way to get volunteer hours! If you are interested, email Jason.
  • StuMin Band and Production Team: Would you like to learn how to run stage lighting, run sound, create media presentations, or play in the StuMin Band? If so, you are invited to join the StuMin Band and Production Team. Please email Russ Parrish with your name, email, availability, and areas of interest.
  • StuMin Leaders: We are currently looking for StuMin Small Group leaders for grades 6-12. If you are interested in learning more please email Jason.

Visit our Volunteer Page for more opportunities for you and your family.
