Making Sense of Scripture

Mondays | 6:00-7:00 pm | 7 weeks beginning January 31
Registration required

In Making Sense of Scripture, author David Lose invites the reader to engage in a conversation, one that he imagines discussing around his kitchen table, about seven major questions of the Bible. More than a standard biblical reference book, Making Sense of Scripture is a dialogue that encourages readers to bring their questions or doubts to the table when reading Scripture. During this conversation, there are different opportunities for the reader to interact with the Bible, ultimately leaving room for personal transformation of the heart and mind. Cost is $13 per person.

Introduction to the Enneagram

Wednesdays | 6:00-7:30 pm | 8 weeks beginning February 2
Registration Required

The Enneagram is a powerful tool for transforming our lives, deepening our relationships, and discovering (and claiming!) our spiritual gifts. This class will introduce us to the Enneagram, help us discover our type and show us how to start applying this new awareness to our lives. Topics will range from the practical (how can I handle my most frustrating habits) to the spiritual (what gifts do I bring just by walking into the room). The class will allow time for discussion and questions. There will be a private Facebook group for further discussion, supplemental resources, and a weekly video of the teaching portion of the class.

The class will be led by Beth Beaty, certified enneagram trainer and Prince of Peace Communications Specialist. A customized handbook is included in the cost. Cost $90/person and $25/each additional adult, cap of $140/family

The Path Between Us: An Enneagram Journey to Healthy Relationships

Sundays | 9:00-10:00 am | 7 weeks beginning January 30
Registration Required

Most of us have no idea how others see or process their experiences. And that can make relationships hard, whether with intimate partners, with friends, or in our professional lives. Understanding the motivations and dynamics of these different personality types can be the key that unlocks sometimes mystifying behavior in others―and in ourselves. Using the wisdom of the Enneagram, this group will explore the path between us.

Pre-requisite trainings preferred: Enneagram for Parents, Introduction to the Enneagram

Doubting Faithfully: Why Your Kids/Grandkids Won’t Go to Church and What We Can Learn from Them

Tuesdays 6:30 am (men’s study)
Wednesdays noon (all are welcome)
February 8-9, 15-16, 21-22

Join us for a special session of Engage Bible Study starting February 8-9: The Pew Research Center reports that upwards of 40% of those born after 1980 check the box for “none” on surveys of religious affiliation—and that percentage keeps climbing. This is not a crash-course about how to win over millennials or “the nones.” This is for those who doubt and question and struggle to reconcile their intellect with their beliefs. This is for those with children or grandchildren who don’t attend church, don’t hold similar beliefs about God, and/or have hostility/confusion about the value of the Bible. The class will provide unconventional perspectives and methods of discipleship and spiritual growth, alternative ways to understand scripture, and ideas for strengthening relationships and interacting with those wrestling with their faith or contemplating the deep things of the universe “without” God or church. No cost for this event.
