Pop in the Park
August 13 @ 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Sunday, August 13 | 5:00 – 8:00 pm
Prince of Peace Outdoor Worship Area

Connect with our POP community over food, music and fun! There will be activities for kids and lots of good conversation. We will provide grilled meat, lawn games and live music. Bring your lawn chair, nonalcoholic beverage of choice, side dishes for your own family and enthusiasm for our next season of ministry together.

This year POP in the Park will be in the Prince of Peace parking lot since we’ve outgrown Crystal Lake Park. Access to the building gives us more options for music, food and games. Picnickers will have access to our bathrooms, better parking options and tables and chairs under a tent.

Our POP in the Park team is cooking up some surprises to make sure this POP in the Park is not only the biggest but the best! Watch the Weekly Update, POP social media and this page for more details!

Let us know you are coming!

It helps us make sure we have enough games and give-aways. It also lets our grilling team know how much food to toss on the grill. There is no cost, but there is a suggested donation of $10/person, $30/family. You can donate online or at the event.

Music

The Prince of Peace Message Community band will be the headlining POP in the Park this year. Led by Prince of Peace’s Media Art’s Director and local musician, Darren Hensel, the band is an eclectic collection of Twin Cities-based musicians that span multiple genres including jazz, funk, rock, country and blues. On August 13, they will bring those styles, mix in some of the modern worship music our young adults and students have been worshipping to, and create a night to remember! Bring your lawn chair and dancing shoes!

Rachel Kurtz, who you may remember from Easter worship, will be opening for Message Community band. You can learn more about Rachel at her website.

Food

The Men’s Ministry will be serving burgers, hot dogs, brats, chips and cookies. They will also have Impossible Burgers; if you want an Impossible Burger, please let us know when you register. Feel free to bring your own side dishes and beverages.

New this year: Root beer floats! Be sure to get a root beer float in your very own POP souvenir cup!

Mission Outpost Food Drive

As we celebrate, let’s remember our neighbors in need. Mission Outpost will be accepting donations at POP in the Park. Please bring your donations of shelf-stable food to the Welcome Tables. We especially need: canned chicken, canned pinto beans, canned salmon, coconut milk, diced tomatoes, dried red beans, elbow macaroni, pasta sauce, and macaroni & cheese.

Parking

Help us make sure everyone – especially families with young children or people with walking difficulties – has a place to park. If you can, please park in the lower parking lot (behind the old Christian Life Center) and walk to the Outdoor Sanctuary area.

Volunteer

Volunteering at POP in the Park is a great way to help people have a good time while getting to know new people at Prince of Peace. We need greeters, hosts for games, food servers and people to help with set up and tear down. Support our community life and register for a volunteer shift today.
