Little Letters, Big Wisdom Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians and Colossians are traditionally referred to as “Paul’s Prison Letters.” Written from Roman house arrest, Paul pours both his heart and his mind into these brief letters written to young churches. His intention is to connect, encourage, correct and disciple believers. In these letters Paul develops both theological and pragmatic themes, all aimed at developing maturity in these young churches. While arising out of specific challenges and cultures, these ancient letters speak current wisdom to believers today. They tell us who Jesus is, who we are and how we’re called to live in light of God’s work in the world. Freedom, unity, joy and faithfulness are the great themes of these letters, and while our circumstances are different, we need to hear these themes every bit as much as those first century believers.
Join our pastoral staff each Monday at noon for a video teaching (can be viewed anytime after as well), followed by an interactive group discussion on Facebook all week long.
*Subject to change
Each Monday at noon our pastoral staff will bring you a video teaching of the week’s theme followed by interactive Facebook discussion all week long.
View the Video
The video teaching will premiere each Monday at noon in 3 places:
Videos will be archived in the Facebook group and in the Engage Bible Study playlist on YouTube to be viewed anytime afterwards.
Take Part in the Discussion
After each video, questions will be posted throughout the week for us to “engage” with on Facebook through an interactive group dialog. The discussion will take place within the Engage Bible Study Facebook group. First, join the Facebook group and then post your thoughts, insights and questions throughout the week as we learn and grow together. Check in on the discussion throughout the week and add to the conversation.
Use the Small Group Guide
If you’re able, we encourage you to watch with others (physically distanced, of course). There will be a question for conversation at the end of each session. We’ll also produce a more extensive small group guide that you can download near the top of this webpage. We strongly encourage you to do this study in community. If you’re in a small group, consider making this your curriculum. If you’re not in a small group, we encourage you to get into one.
Share the Experience
Host a Facebook watch party or share the video on your personal Facebook page so your friends can participate too. You can also invite your Facebook friends to join the Facebook group to take part in the discussion with you.
There are several small groups that are still meeting online for book studies, Bible studies, and fellowship. Visit the Small Groups webpage for details on open small groups, or information on how to start your own small group.
