Lost in Translation

Our scriptures, the bible, is complex and multilayered but the invitation for us all is to lean into the scriptures as it reveals to us who God is and who we are. We imagine a God from the beginning that keeps speaking to us today through ancient stories of redemption and hope. And along the way we may lose the fulness of the story, especially if we fail to recognize the full depth and breath of the story. Much of the story can get lost in translation; lost in the literal translation from Hebrew, Greek to English. Lost in different cultural contexts. Lost in hearing the same story over and over again – lulling us into a familiarity that may strip the story of its richness and it power. We are called to Trust the Story and as we begin let’s wade into these stories with fresh perspectives so we can roll back what has been lost in translation.
