40 Days of Transformation: Worship Series

Lent is a 40-day season of the church year that focuses on preparing us for the celebration of Easter. The number 40 in the Bible is often connected to transformation, the power of God to shape and change people. God shaped the Israelites during their forty years of wilderness wandering, and the Spirit shaped Jesus for his public ministry during his forty days of fasting and temptation in the wilderness. In that spirit, we’re journeying through a new worship series entitled “Forty Days of Transformation”. During these forty days we’re going to lean into the transforming power of God to change us and shape our lives for greater wholeness. View video resources to accompany this series here.

Holy Week Worship

Our 40-day journey of Lent culminates during Holy Week and the celebration of Easter weekend. Please join us for these special times of worship.

Palm Sunday Weekend | This is My Story
April 13, 5:30 pm | April 14, 8:30, 9:45, 11:00 am
All four of our worship services will experience a dramatic portrayal of the events leading up to the crucifixion and resurrection. This original production will feature a captivating story of transformation as each character depicts their part of God’s story. Great acting, powerful music, and amazing set and special effects will combine for a memorable worship experience. Child care is available.

Maundy Thursday | The Suffering Servant
April 18, 7:00 pm
Jesus came, not to be served, but to serve and offer his life for all people. During this poignant worship service we examine the many ways Jesus loved and served his followers. From the Upper Room, Jesus gathers his trusted companions and shares a final meal with them. We too will gather together for a meal and to feel the love and embrace of Jesus. Together we will pray, sing, and consider the compassion, the restoration, and the grace Jesus extends to each one of us. Child care is available.

Good Friday | Surrendering at the Cross
April 19, noon & 7:00 pm
One of the challenging aspects of Holy Week is the crucifixion. The reality of a brutal and difficult death for Jesus is so contrary to everything he proclaimed. The cross – a symbol of torture and death becomes a sacrificial gift of love. Come, embrace his death and embrace the difficult reality that we continue to place the nails of denial and hatred into the cross of love. Child care is available.

Easter Weekend | The Power of Resurrection
April 20, 5:30 pm  |  April 21, 8:30, 9:45, 11:00 am
The story we proclaim on Easter is one that clearly announces Christ is alive, overcoming death and the grave. Our celebration this year proclaims Jesus’ words, “I AM the resurrection and the life.” Now we join the proclamation with the words, “WE are the resurrection and the life because WE are the body of Christ. The 5:30 pm service on Saturday, and 8:30 and 9:45 am services on Sunday will be led by our Celebration Choir and orchestra, and the 11:00 am service will be led by our worship band. Child care is available.

Unashamed: Post-Easter Worship Series

April 27-28 – May 18-19
Few things hinder our experience of the abundant life that Jesus promised than shame. Shame distorts our vision of God and our own identity. Shame undermines intimacy, drives disconnection and becomes fertile soil for dysfunctions like addiction and self-destructive behavior. Shame tells us lies and destroys. It’s not that we need to avoid shame as much as we need to detect, understand and better care for ourselves to facilitate healing. Shame is universal, therefore because it is reality, we need to learn to understand, identify and cope with it instead of disown, suppress, blame or transfer shame to another. When we are able to love and respect parts of us where we feel ashamed, then there is the power to care and move toward wholeness instead of splitting off from that part of self that feels shame.

The Gospel proclaims that we are fully known and completely loved. Our baptism roots us in a relationship with God through Christ that names us “beloved child of God”, establishing our true identity. In this series we want to name and explore the origins and impact of shame, and provide perspective and tools for people to heal from the shame that binds us.

Worship Times: SAT 5:30 pm | SUN 8:30, 9:45, 11:00 am

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church is located on the Ridges campus, just north of the 35W and 35E split in Burnsville, Minnesota. There are two buildings on our campus: the Christian Life Center at the Worship Center. Worship services are held in our Sanctuary on the upper level of the Worship Center. Child care is on the lower level of the Worship Center. We’re typically a pretty casual bunch, but we get a little more dressed up for Easter weekend. We invite you to dress according to your comfort level, whether that’s your “Sunday best” or blue jeans. We won’t judge. All are welcome and you’re invited to come just as you are!
