Why I Serve at Prince of Peace

 In In, Inspiration, Out

Hi! My name is Ryan McClure, I’m 17 years old, and I’m a volunteer here at Prince of Peace. I’ve been a disciple here since I was born, so a few of you probably saw me get baptized, get my first bible, act in the children’s musicals, get confirmed — or, more recently, play guitar in the student band, and engage with our Student Ministry program. I’ve also been a member of the Children’s Ministry Worship Team, a VBS Crew Leader, and in the fall, I’ll be a leading a group of 1st through 3rd graders on Sunday mornings. Finally, I help plan student events, and I provide insight into how students will engage with the Student Ministry programming. Needless to say, volunteering at Prince of Peace is an important and dynamic part of my life.

When I reflect on my time here, Prince of Peace volunteers have played a major role in my life. I think back to my Sunday School leaders, my VBS leaders, my Worship Arts camp leaders, my middle and high school small group leaders, and I realize how influential they were in my faith life. That’s why I volunteer: to give back to the community that has given me so much.

If the community here at Prince of Peace means anything to you at all, I encourage you to consider volunteering. Being an active member of this community has meant so much to me, and it’s something that I wish that everyone could experience. There’s just something deeply soul satisfying about serving other people, and that’s definitely what Christ calls me to do here at Prince of Peace. If you’re looking for a way to get more deeply connected here, you should absolutely volunteer. You won’t regret it.

There many ways to serve at Prince of Peace. Find the one that suits you best on our volunteer page.
