Today’s Word: Door

Today’s Word: Door as in… deciding to open the door to your life today; as in making the decision to walk deeply into it.

Now, imagine (metaphorically, of course) the wardrobe. You’re standing there facing the two doors; they’re closed. You’ve got a decision to make: you can stand there just looking at it, or you can step closer and take hold of the handles and open the doors. You decide to open the doors.

Now, imagine (metaphorically, of course) the clothing. It’s all hanging there right in front of you – shirts, pants, sweaters, coats, scarves, etc. You’ve got a decision to make: you stand there just looking at it, or you can step into it, put your hands in the middle and push the clothing to each side. You decide to push the clothing to each side.

Now, imagine (metaphorically, of course) you’ve parted the clothing which reveals a door on the back wall. You’ve got a decision to make: stand there looking at it, or you can open the door on the back wall of the wardrobe. You decide to open the door. It opens and reveals a whole new world.

Now, imagine (metaphorically, of course) this whole new world. You’ve got some decisions to make: you can turn around and back out. You can just stand there. You can listen to your fears, rehearse your apprehensions, recall your past interactions with this very moment, you can let all of that lock you up.

Or you can receive your next breath as a gift from the One who first breathed it into you. And filled with the oxygen of the Spirit, take just one step into this whole new world of light and growth and opportunity; you can take just one step into this whole new world of “life, and more life.” Now, imagine your life. It’s not a metaphor, and neither are you.

Your life is a gift and you are a child of God. You are filled with the breath of the Spirit, and the Divine spark has ignited another day of life for you today. Step into it. Walk deeply into it. And know that the One who has breathed deeply into you continues to open you up to life, and more life, The One who invites you forward walks deeply into this day with you.
