Spirit TV and Radio Broadcast

 In 50th Anniversary

It’s been a long time since I’ve had the privilege of being part of the Prince of Peace staff and community. However, during the years I served as a staff  member, youth leader, and a member of the worship group SummerSong, I was also part of an extraordinary effort working to leverage some of the media expertise, gifts, and talents of our church family to reach out beyond the walls of the church with Good News to the Twin Cities at large.

In the mid-1980’s, a small but enthusiastic team of dedicated volunteers worked together to create a weekly 30-minute TV show called “Spirit,” which aired on cable outlets around the Twin Cities. Each week “Spirit” brought viewers conversations with interesting guests along with music videos from Christian artists. Our efforts eventually received statewide recognition.

We  also  produced  a high quality 30  minute weekly program that aired Sunday mornings on an FM radio station, with the goal of reaching folks who were without a  church  home.  Each week we featured a message from then Senior Pastor Merv Thompson, as well as music that reinforced his message for the week. I’m very grateful we had the opportunity to reach out to thousands in the Twin Cities each week in this way.
