This summer my husband Jim and I took on the project of building our own deck. It is now finished. I need to add that there is no way this deck would have ever happened without the expertise and kindness of our friends and neighbors! It has been so nice to sit on our new deck and have a cup of coffee in the morning and a glass of wine in the evening. One thing I am learning is the role of Mary Magdalene in the life of Jesus. There has been much speculation on Mary’s role in our gospels. Richard Rohr had a week of writings in his devotionals about Mary’s role as a faithful follower of Jesus. I am opening my eyes to new ways of understanding Mary as a devoted disciple of Jesus. One thing that has been challenging me this summer is reading the scriptures from a new viewpoint. I have been reading the psalms this summer and I have just gotten to the book of songs. That is psalms 120 through 134. These songs have to do with a pilgrimage….headed to maturing in faith…join me on Wednesday for more on the pilgrimage of God’s people, then and now.
