Mission Trips – to the Ends of the Earth By Posted August 8, 2013 In 50th Anniversary Mission Trips – to the Ends of the Earth2013-08-082013-08-08https://popmn.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/popmn-logo-love-god.pngPrince of Peace Lutheran Churchhttps://popmn.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/popmn-logo-love-god.png200px200px 0 Acts 1:8 “…and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Accessibility to “the ends of the earth” is radically different now from when the book of Acts was written long ago. God makes it clear that we are to pay attention to “all” of God’s world, not just the local and national regions. Prince of Peace has a history of being engaged internationally. In the early 1990’s, we sent several disciples to Tanzania. We also hosted a pastor from Tanzania for a period of time. We had a group that helped with refugee settlement; and we spent one November collecting 8,000+ shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child, nearly filling a semi-trailer! More recently, we have developed a partnership with Doulos Discovery School in the Dominican Republic. We have brought nearly 300 people to visit in the last 10 years. Our people have sponsored as many as 40 students to go to the school. We’ve also conducted three dental clinics at the school. We have rekindled the partnership in Tanzania, developing a relationship with a small village named Ilambo. We’ve had the opportunity to provide fresh water, sponsor kids to go to a boarding school, and help them build a new sanctuary. Since 2007, we have packed meals in large volumes for Feed My Starving Children to be sent to God’s children around the globe. Where might we be going? Our partnerships in both Tanzania and the Dominican Republic continue to be strong and have plenty of opportunities to grow and serve. Whether or not we add any other international mission sites is yet to be seen. What we do know is that we will being paying attention to God’s calling!
