October 2nd: Know the 10 Signs of Alzheimer’s Disease

If you or someone you know is experiencing memory loss or behavioral changes, it’s time to learn the facts. Early detection of Alzheimer’s disease gives you a chance to begin drug therapy, enroll in clinical studies and plan for the future. This interactive workshop features video clips of people with Alzheimer’s disease. Experts from our local Alzheimer’s Association will present this information and be open to questions after the presentation.


October 9th: MN Elder Law: Will, Trusts and Estate Planning

Mark Anderson, Elder Law Attorney at Schmitz, Schmidt & Anderson, P.A. will present information about seniors and aging with regards to estate planning, trusts, and wills. Mark is on the Governing Council of the MN State Bar Association Elder Law section, St. Paul Senior Workers Board of Directors and an editor of Elder Law Handbook 3rd Edition, published by MN Continuing Legal Education. There will be time for questions following the presentation.


October 16th: Deciding to Move: Where to Start and How to Make It Manageable

Part I: Transition Steps for Successful Aging |  Cari Waller, Senior Care Consultant- Care Patrol

Are you feeling overwhelmed by all of the options for senior care? Cari will address common misconceptions and the five areas of consideration when selecting senior housing or services. The presentation is designed to meet you where you are today. Whether you are a pre-planner or in complete crisis mode, you will learn the steps that need to be taken to find safe care for yourself or a loved one. (Over for more information….)

Part II: Making Room For Your New Life | Jill Freeman, Senior Move Specialist & Sorter- Gentle Transitions

Gentle Transitions has been moving thousands of Twin Cities’ seniors for the past 27 years. Jill will be presenting educational tips to help those considering an upcoming move or who would like to declutter for the future. From downsizing, sorting, getting rid of the excess, to packing, unpacking and resettling, you will gain valuable knowledge and a multitude of resources to help you get through the process.


October 23rd: Life’s Journey to Health or Illness with Dr. Trehus

Guest speaker Eric Trehus, MD, family practitioner for 31 years at Health Partners and committee chair for preventative medicine as well as professor of clinical medicine at the University of Minnesota, will present “How what we eat or do affects the path to health or illness.” It is important to understand how these lifestyle choices can alter your immunity, causing inflammation, the root cause of disease. This talk will sort through pieces of information and misinformation to assist in your journey to better health. All are welcome!
