Completing the Chapel & Matching Grant

Completion of the Chapel

In about 13 months, we will have a new doorway. Whether that doorway opens to  a parking lot, a space left unfinished for a later building phase or a chapel filled with families worshipping God depends upon our generous response.

The Board of Directors strongly supported the construction of the exterior shell of a 300-seat first floor Chapel in Phase 1 at an additional cost of $1,035,000 if the financial resources could be found to close the gap. Since the Board’s vote on June 18, we’ve received very generous gifts that reduced the gap to just $460,000 needed for construction of the exterior shell of the Chapel. Our Prince of Peace Foundation Board has now stepped up with $230,000 to provide a matching grant opportunity to close the gap.

In addition to the remaining funding needed to complete the exterior shell, we will need $550,000 to finish the interior construction of our Chapel space and another $350,000 for furnishings and technology to fully use the space.

Realizing our dream of Family Ministry being able to worship and serve under one roof, depends in large part upon building the Chapel. The Chapel will serve as our transitional worship space when we begin renovation of the Sanctuary in a future building phase. In addition, the Chapel will be our primary space for funerals and small weddings.

Over the last 14 months, 880 of our families have given to the One Church Campaign and we are grateful for your generosity. If you have yet to step into giving for this project, now is the time. With many families who have not yet participated financially in the One Church Campaign, we have greater capacity to reach our goal. If you’ve already given and have the capacity to stretch a bit further, please prayerfully consider doing so.

Matching Grant Opportunity

The Prince of Peace Foundation has approved the largest grant in its history in order to play a significant role in accelerating the One Church Transformation project. The Foundation Board approved a matching grant of $230,000 towards construction of  the exterior Chapel shell as part of Phase I of the building project, allowing us to save over $100,000 in construction efficiencies. The funds were taken exclusively from earnings on prior contributions. Such a grant would not be possible without past participation from members of Prince of Peace.

The matching grant asks those who have yet to make a commitment to the One Church Campaign or those who wish to increase their initial pledge to answer the need for funding. This grant will double the dollar amount of all NEW commitments up to $230,000. You may make a 2-year pledge at popmn.org/onechurch or give online at popmn.org/give.

Along with this grant, the Foundation has created a new opportunity called the “Legacy Program.” It will include the ability to leave significant gifts without affecting current cash assets for individuals and families. This program will help the Foundation to continue to be a significant resource for Prince of Peace and the greater community. Details to come this fall.

Thank you for your overwhelming support of this project that will bless generations to come!
