Choral and Traditional Music Ministries Hiring Update: June 19, 2024

 In Transition Blog

We are excited to share some encouraging developments in our hiring efforts for the Choral and Traditional Music Ministries position. This position has been re-imagined and re-posted as Director of Music Ministries and has moved to a part-time position. Transitioning this role to part-time seems to have sparked a great deal of interest among high-quality candidates. This move seems to align well with candidates’ existing commitments in school and university settings while providing a unique, attractive part-time role growing the choir, bells, and other music ministries.

We have received responses from several high-level candidates, all with experience in choral education and church music. Once applications close on Friday, June 28, our Screening Committee will recommend three finalists to audition for the choir. Our hope is to have the new Director of Music Ministries begin in their role in August to begin planning for the 2024-25 season.

In addition to making headway on a new choral director, we continue the artistic planning for Reconcile NYC with our partners at Carnegie Hall and in the Twin Cities. Edina Chorale, a talented community choir, will be joining us in NYC with 40+ members. In addition, the vocal ensemble From Age to Age is likely to join as well bringing 16 – 20 professional /amateur singers.

We currently have 85 performers, as well as 20 non-performers, signed up from Prince of Peace alone. With the addition of a new director and positive momentum as we continue to plan the trip, we believe participation will continue to grow. We will have a significant musical presence at Carnegie Hall in 2025!

If you have questions related to the Carnegie NYC trip, please reach out MJ Kot.
