We Are Blessed

By Polly Bergerson

We are in the traditional season of Lent – a time for reflection and renewal; a time to lament. I want to share with you some of the lyrics of a song Blessed To Be The Blessing, by Peter Meyer that will guide you to the uplifting arms of the Savior on Easter Morn.

Peter’s tells us that God’s word is not to be kept in the depths of us, but is the breath in us to change us. It has nothing to do with what we have done and everything to do with the way we have “been loved at the cross-roads lifted up lifted by the Savior.” In our journey we are carried into the open arms of Grace as we walk through the valleys and climb mountains into freedom.

In Matthew 5: 1-10 Jesus teaches us how to lament and Peter’s song shares it this way:

Blessed are those who mourn they will be comforted

Blessed are the meek they will inherit the earth

Blessed are those who hunger for justice for God will use their hands

Blessed are the merciful mercy will be there dance

Blessed are the pure in heart they will see the Lord

Blessed are those who live in Peace they are children of the Word

Blessed are you who walk through the fire and suffer for the road God shows you,

Through everything give thanks and sing for the Love of God that holds you

So, this Lenten season as we remember our story in lament, reflection, renewal and prayer we walk down the road as Easter People knowing:

We are blessed ………..every breath

We are blessed …………daily bread

We are blessed ……    blessed

To be the blessing

Oh with every breath …..blessed

Take our hands and our footsteps ………..blessed

We are blessed to be the blessing

Lord; what a privilege it is to be a blessing for you through our hands and feet. We are blessed. Amen
