Mission Outpost MOVE

Are you looking for a way to truly impact a family’s future? MOVE ministry is working to assist families as they progress through life challenges and transition into becoming self-sustaining. With current Dakota County poverty rates being between 12-15%, families and individuals face hardships in meeting daily needs for food, clothing, and shelter. While they often first turn to families and friends, they may also seek assistance from community resources such as religious organizations, non-profit agencies, or government assistance programs. The poverty rate is a factor in predicting the number of public assistance cases that are managed by Dakota County, which currently stand at about 35,000 residents receiving Medical Assistance; more than 20,000 receive food support, and 460 families receive child care assistance, and those numbers do not include other service provided by Dakota County. With this in mind, we at Prince of Peace seek to support and provide assistance to these families. We are not looking to re-create what other organizations are already doing, but we are seeking to grow deeper in our calling within the community of which we belong.

At this time our MOVE team has the ability to assist families with job search including resume building and mock interviews. We continue to work with The Dakota County Work Force Center to learn where our gifts can best serve the larger community with job search. We have formed a partnership with Dakota County to train volunteers to assist families/individuals with applications for County assistance such as SNAP or cash assistance programs or MNSURE for state health insurance.

There is opportunity for discussion as we look for ways to better serve our community and there is a place for you. If this sounds like a ministry that may be of interest to you, please contact Linda at 952-898-9307 or by email.
