Prince of Peace hosts a Caregiver Support Group in partnership with DARTS. A support group can be a great source of help and inspiration for those caring for loved ones. The support group provides a safe, supportive environment where questions are answered, ideas are discussed, and friendships shared. The group is facilitated by Lori Angus, Licensed Social Worker from DARTS. New members welcome at any time.

Preparing for an Emergency: Caregivers Develop a Plan of Action to Deal with Crisis Situations
Speaker: Grace Jacobs
What documents do you need to have ready? What should you take to the hospital? Should you not be able to provide care how can you transfer your caregiving duties to someone else? Does your family know what care you provide on a daily basis to your loved one? What medications do you administer? Who do they contact if you are unavailable?
Grace Jacob’s, a former caregiver of her husband who had dementia, will give you the resources you need to plan for the unexpected. Grace fell and broke her hip. She had no plan in place to help her husband. She faced the crisis and had to do everything from her hospital bed. With the help of her handouts, Grace hopes others will not have to face the difficult decision making she had to during her health crisis. Come and develop a plan of action for your caregiving situation.
Social workers note: The crisis plan can be used as a guide for friends or family member to take over care of their loved one while they take a much needed day off or take a trip.
