Caring For Creation

God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” Genesis 1:28 (NIV)

What does it mean for Prince of Peace to care for God’s Creation? This and many other questions relating to our role in protecting that Creation are posed at our regular Sunday meetings of POP disciples. Many of us care for God’s creation in our daily lives, but what should we be doing as a church to honor this command? As we meet to renew our work of caring for the planet, participants bring creative perspective and exciting energy to this set of issues. We find that we have members who are passionate about justice for the Earth. Our meetings include discussions about coping with climate change, reducing our carbon footprint, using clean energy resources, sustainability, recycling, and networking with like-minded organizations. We view videos from a number of websites that help to clarify what is happening in the world.  One of which is posted here to give you an example. The documentary, “Do the Math” can be found at 350.org.

We will announce special presentations in the monthly Direction that will include videos and guest speakers.  We welcome you all to attend.

We encourage you to join us at our weekly meetings at 11:00 a.m., Sundays in the Mission Intake room Lower level in the Christian Life Center.  We will also discuss what the Bible offers in the way of instruction for stewardship of the earth. Join us and make a contribution to the cause of renewing the planet.
