Called to Connect Weekend
by Pastor Jeff Marian
I recently attended a family reunion in New Jersey. Our family spanned four generations, from 6 months to 95 years of age, and gathered from 6 different states. It was awesome to be together, deepen relationships and celebrate being family. We’re already talking about the next reunion! As a family of faith, Prince of Peace spans many generations. We come from many schools and communities, and we don’t often all come together to deepen relationships and celebrate being the Church together. I think it’s time we did something about that.
So, I want to invite you to our first Called to Connect Weekend on October 1-2. The children and leaders who are usually in Family Ministry in the Christian Life Center will join us for the celebration at each worship service. Many of them will learn to worship by helping lead us in worship. And, of course, no family reunion would be complete without food! We’ll serve appetizers on Saturday night from 5:00 – 5:30 pm and breakfast on Sunday morning between services. The family that eats together grows together!
Attending my family reunion meant that I had to make it a priority on our calendar. I want you to do the same for this Called to Connect Weekend. Being together matters. We can’t really love one another if we don’t know one another, and that’s especially important as we press into God’s vision for us and the possibility of new campus development. God delights when the whole family celebrates together, and God is the One who calls us to gather, celebrate and worship together.
Mark your calendar now. Pray for a spirit of love and joy to fill our time together. Bring your Bible and an appetite for good food and great community. And if you’d be willing to volunteer a little of your time to make our celebration awesome, you can sign up during worship services in the Community Room in September or by using our online volunteering tool, Sign-Up Genius. There you’ll find job descriptions and more details about how to help! Sign up to volunteer.
We are Prince of Peace. We are Called to Connect. That journey begins when we connect more deeply with God and one another!
