Bloom Where You Are Planted
But the godly shall flourish like palm trees, and grow tall as the cedars of Lebanon. For they are transplanted into the Lord’s own garden and are under His personal care. Even in old age they will still produce fruit and be vital and green. This honors the Lord and exhibits his faithful care. Psalms 92:12-15
I have just made my yearly trip to visit my favorite nurseries and pick out the wonderful flowers that will add beauty and color to our home this Spring and Summer Season. Oh, how my heart sings as I look at all of the colors and shapes and textures of endless rows of beautiful blossoms. Most surely I must get my Rocky Mountain Red geraniums…….and this year their companion flower in my window boxes will be yellow Supertunias. Yep, yellow and red……that’s my choice this year and perhaps a new rose bush will complete my plan magnificently.
I figured out long ago where the proper places are for these plants and just what fertilizer to use to maximize their blooms and just how often I must water them. And with all that being considered and my faithfulness to the plan….what an awesome sight it will be. Oh, it may be a lot of work but the results are spectacular!!!!
And I got to thinking about the garden that God has planted within me……love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.
What awesome blossoms they are and yet they also take some faithfulness to a plan to keep them healthy and strong. I will need to be in God’s word that it might feed my soul with direction , forgiveness and hope. I will need to be in prayer to dissolve anger, hurt , envy or sorrow that might destroy the garden in my soul. And I will need to be sharing my blossoms with others that I meet so that they too can be touched by the love of God through me. And when I truly know Him, love Him, remember Him and imitate Him in all areas of my life……I will be the garden that He created me to be…….Loving the Lord my God with all my heart, mind and soul and loving my neighbor as myself.
Well, it’s going to be quite the planting season…….red geraniums, yellow supertunias, and a rose bush planted with great love and cared for carefully and continually. A Summer of great color and beauty. And then, careful and committed care of my soul garden for God……a place for love, hope, joy and forgiveness to grow.
Will you join me this wonderful season of the year……take time to smell the flowers and take time to flourish the Garden within you that God has planted?
I promise you awesome results!!!!!
Let us pray:
Gracious and wonderful God when I look at all the beautiful flowers I am so clearly reminded that you are a God of details. Thank you for your wonderful creation. Help me to care for it as tenderly as I care for the flowers in my garden. And God, help me to care for the garden that you have planted within me. Let my love for you bring you joy. Help me to remove the weeds of anger, fear, jealousy, hopelessness and resentment. Pour into my heart all the needed ingredients to help me grow deep, not just tall. Make me like you Lord, please make me like you!!!!
For you grace, your forgiveness and your endless living water of love, I give you thanks.
In your precious name, I pray.
